~~Hi, my name is Gunner! They say I am 7 years old, but you wouldn't know it with all the energy I have. Basically I am the perfect dog: if you want to relax, I love a nap.  If you want to play, I'm ready to go.

My foster mom saved me from being put down at a shelter. Boy am I glad! I have so much love to give! Because of what I've been through, I have a fear of being left behind. So I hope you don't mind, but I would like to follow you where ever you go. I'll make sure you are safe as you travel from room to room. You want to run errands? I love to hang my head out of the car window! You want to go for a walk? So do I! I walk pretty good on a leash. That is until I see a squirrel. My foster mom is trying to teach me that I am not supposed to chase squirrels. But can you blame me?! They are so much fun to chase!

Everyone says I am super sweet, but I'm not perfect. I can get destructive if you try to close me off away from you. That includes crates, basements, small rooms, etc. I don't mean to be destructive, I just want to come find you so badly. I dont chew, I just seem to bend/break things and climb fences.  My foster mom gives me free roam of the house (basically because I didn't give her much choice), but I have earned her trust because I am well behaved when she is gone and I get to wait for her without being locked up. Once in a while I am left alone for up to 10 hours and I am a perfect angel.

I'm housetrained but I don't bark much so my foster mom is working on how I can communicate with her that I have to go out. Some other things about me: I love dog beds (although I'd also love to be on your comfy furniture if you let me), bones, food (which I currently get a lot of since I'm underweight), head pats and chin scratches.

Do I sound like a perfect companion for you? Will you consider being my forever home?  If so, please complete an application at southeastgermanshepherdrescue.com or work with your adoption coordinator.  I am being fostered near Charlotte, NC.

Gunner is good with dogs, children and adults, although it is unknown how he is with cats. He is not food or toy aggressive.
